I am a counselling psychologist and hold a MA Cum Laude Counselling Psychology degree from Stellenbosch. In addition I have also completed a Further Diploma Cum Laude in Remedial Teaching from RAU (now UJ) and a Certificate in Executive and Career Coaching from UNISA.
I am passionate about helping people to be the best versions of themselves, regardless of their circumstances, their past and the challenges they face.
I am privileged to walk the journey of emotional growth, self-development, and sometimes just finding ways to cope, with each person I see in my office. I walk the very dark, painful and scary journey of every person with empathy and compassion, while holding up a light a hope. But I also get to share in the joys and achievements, especially when the person is ready to take the light of hope, that I have been holding up, from me. In addition, I am privileged to accompany children and teenagers on their difficult journeys and celebrate with them and their parents, when they walk our of the play therapy room or my office, for the last time.
I mainly utilise the cognitive therapies, but I am also able to integrate other therapies to allow me to tailor my therapeutic approach to be able to suit the unique needs of person in my office or play therapy room.

I love my job!
People often ask “how do you cope with listening to peoples problems all day?”
The reality is, we don’t!
“Listening to problems” is only the case at the start of therapy. As therapy progresses, we have the honour and privilege of sharing in someone’s emotional and personal growth, the development of insight into challenges, the resolution of issues, traumas and conflicts and all of the other positive consequences that psychotherapy can facilitate. This is shared journey that can be exciting, challenging, humbling, frightening, demanding, but usually very satisfying and fulfilling.
I am a counselling psychologist and hold a MA Cum Laude Counselling Psychology degree from Stellenbosch.
In addition, amongst other further training, I am a Diplomate member and was the Head of Training of the South African Society of Clinical Hypnosis (the society was previously a division of the Psychological Society of South Africa and a constituent member of the International Society of Hypnosis) and a Registered Accredited Member of The Terence Watts BWRT® Institute. I have also completed a Certificate in Executive and Career Coaching from UNISA and a number of training courses in family and medical negligence mediation.
My therapeutic approach is eclectic. Where appropriate and indicated, I might make use of supportive and ego-strengthening approaches, cognitive and problem solving strategies, BWRT®, analytical hypnotherapy, guided visualizations and deep relaxation techniques, mediation and/or psycho-education, as is appropriate in dealing with the issue at hand.
I offer psychotherapy for adolescents, adults, couples and families for a wide range of issues including relationship problems, anxiety and panic, depression, trauma, personality disorders, smoking cessation and addiction, amongst others.
